Avila discusses the events of the September 27, 2006 Platte Canyon High School shooting, the loss of Emily Keyes, and how the final words communicated to her family has led to over 50,000 schools, businesses, organizations, and departments to adopt common terminology during a crisis.
Using lessons learned from Active Shooter events to make our communities safer, Burd provides an overview of data from 2000 to present and how we can utilize that data to improve safety in our schools, businesses, houses of worship, and community events.
